Nick Jankel - Chief Executive and Founder
Nick is a BBC TV & radio presenter and world-renowned expert on creativity, change & happiness. He is one of Britain’s top leadership and innovation coaches who works across the globe with celebrities, entrepreneurs and change-making organisations, including advising No.10 Downing Street on social innovation. He is a pioneering designer of transformational experiences across all media and worked with the key principles on the launches of PlayStation 2 and Xbox.
Nick is currently starring in a new BBC TV series (’Shopping Is My Life‘) and is one of only a handful of change experts and psychologists to be chosen by the BBC to work across TV, radio and live events. He is on the panel for BBC Radio 1’s Sunday Surgery with Kelly Osbourne and recently designed the leadership and empowerment programme for BBC Learning’s 3-year mental wellbeing campaign. He was the coach on MTV‘s highest rated show in history (taking on the formidable Jodie Marsh) and has appeared regularly on BBC News discussing creativity and social change. Nick has spent over 15 years researching the psychology and philosophy of change, creativity and happiness. Nick holds a triple 1st class degree in philosophy and medicine from Cambridge University; and has been awarded a string of prizes and fellowships from all corners of the globe. He has studied most of the world’s major philosophies and wisdom traditions (as well as hypnotherapy, breathing techniques and meditation) and uses his expertise in anthropology to explore a variety of cultures and spaces so as to understand what makes us, and our societies, flourish.
Nick is a founder and Chairman of a fast-growing think tank for high-impact social innovation. Disruptive Social Innovators works with social enterprises, the government and ethical organisations to create breakthrough social change ideas, techniques, training courses and events. He speaks at events and conferences in places as diverse as Nigeria and Nuneaton and has taught on the MBA programmes of 5 of the UK’s top 10 business schools, including Oxford and Warwick. He has worked with the senior management of organisations such as Orange, Smirnoff, Tesco, Microsoft and Unilever to create ideas and strategies key to the future of their businesses and has collaborated with a number of leading broadcasters and media companies to innovate new formats and cross-platform content ideas - Disney, Discovery Channel, Xbox, BBC and PlayStation to name but a few.
He has spent the last few years developing a radical new approach to change Depth Coaching : that uses strategy tools, therapy, meditation and music to create rapid yet lasting transformation. He has put the best of what he knows about change and happiness into weCoach Professional™ : a coaching toolkit that any two people can use together to work towards whatever they want to have in their professional or personal lives.
Nick is currently writing a book on the philosophy of freedom and happiness, looking at this complex and crucial topic from a variety of angles: the individual, the cultural and the political.
Nick is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a Visiting Research Fellow at Exeter and Bath Universities.
